Thanks to the Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation funds, Anne Queenan is documenting through stories what makes watershed leaders successful. The Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation of Rochester, MN, has awarded funds to the Fishers & Farmers Partnership to document lessons learned from 27 leaders of 12 farmer-led watershed groups in the Upper Mississippi River Basin. Recently, Fishers & Farmers received funding from the McKnight Foundation to develop a Watershed Leaders Network (WLN), so the Schmidt Foundation funds will multiply the value of the WLN and associated workshops to help develop and strengthen landowner leaders. The funds will expand the reach of the Partnership and its impact on improving farm health, the Mississippi River Basin, and its tributaries.
